Minutes February 8, 2006

 

 

Meeting was Called to Order at: 10:07 AM

 

Jeannette began with introductions.

 

Presentation: Michael Winn; Regional Manager Safequard Sales, gave the Council a

                        presentation on “The SafeGuard Bus Seat”.

Last month’s minutes: Were approved.

 

REPORTS:

 

CDE:  None 

 

CHP:  Robert wanted to remind us: for the provisional license, the first 6 months has

           changed to 12 months that they cannot transport passengers under 20 years of

           age.

 

MOTOR CARRIER: None.

                                     

CASTO:  Next meeting Thursday, February 9, 2006, 5:30 PM at Boll weevil’s on

                 Clairemont Mesa Blvd. & Ruffin Rd.

                 

                 Special Needs Rodeo – San Diego Unified won 1^st Place, Ontario won

                 second place.

 

                March 11, 2006 - Regular Rodeo. Changes have been made to the “Left

                And Right Turn” event.

                CASTO Conference: April 7-10, 2006 in San Diego at the Town & Country in

                Mission Valley.  If you would like to help at the conference contact Kevin.

                Conference packets are being mailed out.

 

 

GOOD OF THE ORDER: An instructor asked if other instructors are still training

                                              drivers to use the proper lanes for school buses. He has

                                              noticed quite frequently school bus drivers are in the in-

                                              correct lanes. Instructors stated they do teach the proper

GOOD OF THE ORDER: lane usage, but they have also noticed more and more

                                             drivers are not. The most common excuse given when

                                             instructors confront drivers on this issue is: “it is more

                                             convenient.” Instructor’s agreed all we can do is train

                                             drivers correctly the best we can, then they have to be

                                             accountable for their choices.

CLASSES: Original Class; Chula Vista Adult at the Del Rey Center in Chula Vista.

                                               January 30, thru March 23, 2006. Mon. Tues. & Wed.

                                              Poway School District. Start February 27, 2006, first night

                                              5:00 PM to 7:00 PM. Then the class will decide if they

                                              want a day or evening class. Classes will then be every day
