CDE e-mailed the changes in their Instructor Bulletin 05-17. Anna will still be our field coordinator this year. The Department has also realigned two of the six OST Regions “A-F” and has added a seventh region “G”. the new Regional Boundaries Map can be printed from the OST Website: www.cde.ca.gov/ls/tn/. Lack of
knowledge of the dual air brake system. A new driver handbook to be
used with the Classroom Manual is going to be written. The Car Seat Program is
available. It is an 8-hour class. As with all CDE Classes a letter of
interest would need to be submitted to John Green, and OST would schedule at a
time they would be in the area. Changes are going to be made
concerning the Phone Interview for Instructor applicants. They will be asked
to read from the Vehicle Code and Titles and interpret what they read. So start
working with them. The objective of this change is to start preparing the
applicant with this material. A lot of applicants who have been through the
course started without reading these books. As we know a lot of what is done
in the Academy is reading and interpreting the Codes and Titles that pertain
to School Bus Drivers, this change will help you applicant be more prepared
(less stress). January 1, 2006, the “Danger

OLD BUSINESS: None to Report.

NEW BUSINESS: GENERAL DISCUSSION: A few instructors reported when they took renewals down to be tested, their Officer would not test those who did not have their actual Social Security Card with them, copies were not accepted. Anna Borges stated that she had called the Officers to let them know this is not required of a renewal applicant since we already know they have a social security number. Instructors are still having problems. Anna also talked with Jantze Douglas with CHP Commercial Vehicle Section (916) 445-1865. Jantze agreed this is not required of renewals. If you have any problems or questions, contact Jantze. GOOD OF THE ORDER: Diane Turner asked if anyone would like to present a program at one of our Instructor Council Meetings – please let her know. Otherwise she may have to choose people.
