Brian and I got engaged in September '98. We started planning an October wedding for the following year. We decided to get married at Mill Race Historical Village, in Northville and have our reception at Country Epicure in Novi. One week before Thanksgiving, Brian found out that he was getting transferred to Newark, NJ, effective January 1st! We discussed our options. Since our lease was also ending January 1st, and neither of us wanted to spend the next 10 months so far apart, we decided that the best thing to do was get married so I could get moved out there with him.

One week AFTER Thanksgiving, we drove down to the Wayne County Courthouse in Detoit and said our vows with about twelve other couples. What an experience! My sister came over from the GM building, Brian's boss Brenda and his future best man Greg, walked over from the Ren Cen and Dad took pictures from the Jury box! Brian's sister Dana and my mom were also there. Once it was all over and we were officially married, Mom told me that THIS was NOT the only wedding I was going to have. So the plans went forward for our big wedding! We had a perfectly beautiful day October 16th, 1999, when our friends and family were able to witness our renewal of vows. The only burning question now, which anniversary to celebrate???
