Jun Battad, a Fil-Am singer and concert performer
from Dallas Texas,
recently came to town to do a recording
of revival songs entitled
"thanks for remembering." Songs from
this new album includes old
favorites of great singers such as Nat King
Cole's "unforgettable", Frank
Sinatra's "my way", Elvis Presley's "are
you lonesome tonight", Barry
Manilow's "I can't smile without you", Julio
Iglesia's "hey", and other
old hits like "the good life", "hawaiian
wedding song."
A licensed civil engineer in the USA, Jun
is a project manager with with
the City of Dallas Water Deaprtment.
His passion for music however
finds expression in playing the piano in
his spare time, or performing
before Filipino and Asian community in Texas.
He is the brother of
Atty. Leo D. Battad, one of the members
of the present Board of Trustees.
Inspired by his visits with the street skids
of Paramount and Crossing
at EDSA and the dedicated work of the SDC
staff, Jun readily agreed to
donate the proceeds of his CD album to the
cause of the street children.
Donations on proceeds from the album would
help shelter and educate the
street children of Metro Manila under the
auspices ofthe Streetchildren
Development Center (SDC), Inc. In
his words, "what matters most is not
profit, but what I can do, no matter how
little, to touch the lives of
the street children of Manila. My
first CD is dedicated to them."
