Inspired by the street and community children’s unceasing dream of continuing their studies, despite poverty and other difficulties, the SDC formally put up the Educational Support Fund (ES Fund) in April 2000. The SDC recognizes that in the face of grave financial difficulties, a family too often sacrifices the child’s education.

Derived from donations or sponsorships, the ES Fund aims to supplement the limited resources of families in financial difficulties, in order to assure for its beneficiaries -- the community children and children on the streets -- the chance to continue schooling. Also, it aims to sustain and develop the academic interest of the children, and inculcate in them greater interest and involvement in community affairs.

Concerned individuals or entities
that wish to participate in a child’s educational growth and development
may donate any amount. Sponsorship of a school child, however, is
greatly needed. A concerned individual or entity may choose to sponsor
a child for the following amounts: P1,000.00 for an elementary student,
and/or P1,800.00 for a high school student.
Sponsorship may be on a yearly or continuing
basis.
In order to maximize the limited resources of the ES Fund, parents or guardians are encouraged to seek other means of supporting their children.
Financial support from the ES Fund will principally be devoted to meeting the child’s school needs and requirements (e.g. uniform, books) and other such expenses deemed necessary to insure that the child is able to continue his/her studies.
