Life's Epitaph on a Large Gravestone
When I was born and I was all alone
I saw an endless path of life unfurled;
I had to make some choices many when thrown
Headlong into the troubles of the world.
I have accepted what my life has been
Of good and bad, I cherish all of it.
And bad is good as people may have seen,
For bad contrasts the good like light is lit.
I call upon my family of tomorrow
To say unto you one thing I must ask:
Because I die, do not fill up with sorrow,
But carry on the triumphs of my past.
Show everyone how I have changed their lives
By meeting with them once, or many times!
My love for every one of them has thrived,
And through my gift I give them rhythms and rhymes.
Now it is time for me to go descend
Into the Earth to find eternal rest.
My body now has reached the very end
Of life, as people really know it best.
What really is a body in the ground?
Will it soon be more than a pile of dust?
In all the years Ive lived my life, Ive found
That life should happen after death it must!
Life is not gone right after it we give
Instead, well find that after life well live.
