Assignment #3 - Scientific Theories

1.  Read the SCIENCE "Introduction / supporting material"  (click on to go to) and verify the statements by clicking
onto and reading the reference links.

2. Verify that statements concerning  the requirements for being Scientific Theories agreed upon by both
evolution and creation sources in the Introduction include:
        1) Susceptible to testing / repeatable experimentation.  3) Based upon actual observations.
        2) Capable of being falsified if indeed it were false.

3. Review the various sample references in the Introduction above, on the gereral reference page, sample references
below, and any of your choosing, and make a written referenced report (about one page each) on the following  parts.

Part I - Evolution Model:
        1) Is the Theory of Evolution as related to the origin of the Universe, our Solar System, and
macro-evolution susceptible to testing and experimentation?  Why or why not?
        2) Is the Theory of Evolution capable of being falsified?  Why or why not?
        3) Is the Theory of Evolution a Scientific Theory?  Why or why not?
        4) Whether or not the Theory of Evolution is a Scientific Theory, is there any scientific evidence
that supports the theory?  If so, what is the main evidence?
        5) Is the Theory of Evolution based on Science or Faith?  Explain Why.  State references.

Part II - Creation Model:
        1) Is the Theory of Creation as related to the origin of the Universe, our Solar System, and life on
Earth susceptible to testing and experimentation?  Why or why not?
        2) Is the Theory of Creation capable of being falsified?  Why or why not?
        3) Is the Theory of Creation a Scientific Theory?  Why or why not?
        4) Whether or not the Theory of Creation is a Scientific Theory, is there any scientific evidence that
supports the theory?  If so, what is the main evidence?
        4) Is the Theory of Creation based on Science or Faith?  Explain Why.  State references.

Part III - Conclusion:
        1) Make a conclusion as to which, both, or neither theory (evolution and creation) are scientific
theories.  Support your conclusion with references.
        2) Post your conclusion with references on the Critical Thinking Club.
        3) Respond in a professional way to at least one other posting.
