Martha (Cooke) Cushman was the daughter of Jacob (1618-1676) and Damaris (Hopkins) Cooke so thus the grandaughter of Mayflower passengers Francis Cooke and Stephen Hopkins. Born in Plymouth 16 March 1659/60, Martha died in Plympton 17 September 1722 and is buried near the front of the Old Burial Grounds with her husband Deacon Elkanah Cushman. She was the 2nd wife of Elkanah and bore him five children: Allerton, Elizabeth, Josiah, Martha and Mehitable.
