George Samson was one of the first settlers of Plympton. Along with his brother Isaac these two sons of Abraham Samson each
moved into Western Plymouth, which was incorporated as the town of Plympton in 1707, and each reared numerous children who were the ancestors of a multitude of Sam(p)son generations which spread across the country. George married Elizabeth Sprague, a descendant of another early settler of Plymouth Colony, Francis Sprague. Elizabeth is buried here beside her husband in the northern section of the Olde Burying Place at Plympton. George and Elizabeth's sons Benjamin and George Jr and many of their families are also buried here, with Benjamin and Margaret (Parker) Samson buried beside George and Elizabeth and George Jr and wife Hannah (Soule) Samson buried nearby.
