On the Obverse of coins you will find the latin words "DEI GRATIA" meaning "By The Grace Of God". The Latin word "REGINA" means "Queen" and "REX" means "King". The joining of these words "DEI GRATIA REGINA" we get "By The Grace Of God, Queen" and "DEI GRATIA REX" we get "By The Grace of God, King". Also prior to, and including, 1947 we see an abbreviation "ET IND: IMP:" which is for the latin words "ET INDIAE IMPERATOR" meaning "And Emperor Of India", this was removed in 1947 because India had received it's independence. In 1935 a special latin inscription was placed, "REX IMPERATOR ANNO REGNI XXV" meaning "King and Emperor 25 Years Reigning" this was because of King George VI's Silver Anniversary of ascension to the throne. In 2002 50-Cent Golden Jubilee circulation coin produced by the Royal Canadian Mint reflects a commemorative medallion struck 50 years ago to mark the coronation of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, this is only found on the 2002 50-Cent Coins.
