| FOB Mercury was a training camp for Saddam loyal Iranian dissidents (the Mujaheden-E Khalq) near Al-Fallujah, Iraq, about 30 miles west of Baghdad. Below is what we call the "Iranian Gate," as seen from just inside FOB Mercury. 1st Battalion, 504th Parachute Infantry Regiment was the resident of FOB Mercury from early September, 2003 until the Marines took over (and made drastic changes) in March, 2004. | ||||||||||||
