Born in Kobe, Japan in 1972 Ultimo Draq (real name Masaharu Takaumi) is the nephew of Japanese martial arts legend Akira Maeda. Trained from the age of six in various forms of judo, jiu-jitsu, kung fu, sumo, karate, and jeet kun do, Draq has never been fond of the sport of pro wrestling. Taught by his uncle at an early age that pro wrestling is inferior since it stresses "entertainment" over actual competition, he seeks to end puroresu (pro wrestling) at its source.
A bitter enemy of pro wrestling promoters and pro wrestlers, he seeks no support from fans or "the boys" backstage and has the reputation of being a very bitter loner. Refusing to speak in English except in very rare circumstances Draq has never been anything but a trouble maker in the pro wrestling circuit.
