The MB 210 B-5 made its appearance in 1933. It had been ordered to replace the antique Leo-20 biplane and the Marcel Bloch 200. It was the first bomber also provided with retractable landing gear. It is also said  that a certain number of accidents occurred in the squadrons and it soon earned the nickname of "flying coffin" (which was also applied to the Mb-200).
