| Our meeting on September 21,
2006 will be held at the Laurens County Library, which is located at 1017
West Main Street in Laurens. Our meeting will start at 6:30 pm, no
meal will be served, and last until 8:30 pm. Our guest speaker this month will be Mr. Mac Wyckoff, a Historian at Fredericksburg/Spotsylvania Courthouse N. M. P., and he will be talking about McGowan’s Brigade in Spotsylvania Courthouse in the Muleshoe at the Bloody Angle on May 12, 1864. Mac has also written books on the 2nd and 3rd South Carolina. |
| We are still planning
on having committees for the McGowan Monument and Building Funds, so if
you are interested please see a camp officer. We are also looking for
a McGowan Camp Historian who will take pictures of our meetings, headstone
installations and various other projects of the camp, we need to keep a historical
record for future camp members. |
| We must start
thinking of a camp project for General Robert E. Lee’s birthday which is
January 19th , which will mark the 200th Anniversary of his
birth! |
