Our meeting on November 16, 2006 will be held @ The Laurens County Library, which is located at 1017 West Main Street in Laurens.  We  will start at 6:30 P. M. and the meeting will end by 8:30.  Since we are meeting here there will be no meal served.

Our guest speaker will be Dr. John Griffin who will be presenting his new book “ ABRAHAM LINCOLN’S EXECUTION”.  John will also be selling copies of his new book.

We have special plans for our January meeting and these will be discussed at this meeting, so please make plans to attend since we will not be holding a meeting during December.

During November’s meeting we will have sign up sheets for all our special committees.  Also, remember that November 11th is Veterans Day!!
 

A Prayer for Confederate History

Our Lord we thank thee for the pure record of virtue, valor and sacrifice, and for the inspiring reflection that despite its bitter disappointments and  sorrows it proclaims for us and to all the world, that we came through its years  of trial and struggle with our battered shields pure our character as a  patriotic and courageous people untamished and nothing to regret in our defense of the rights and honor of our Southland.  May God bless America and the Southland.

The quartermaster table will be open at our meeting. I will have available a table with a variety of items for your purchase. I have a limited amount of 2007 Mort Kunstler Legends in Gray calendars for $ 20 each so make sure you purchase one for next year.

McGowan Camp 40 Compatriots,

Thank you for allowing me to serve our Camp as your Lt Cdr for the next 2 years.

I will strive to provide good speakers and programs for our meetings, and I want to encourage all Camp members to offer suggestions for speakers andprograms. We must always be diligent in educating ourselves, especially our newest members, so that we can effectively "present the true history of the South to future generations".

Guardian Report

Compatriots,

We still have much work to perform around Laurens county in order to preserve the gravesites of our Southern fighting men. Many of these graves, (indeed the entire cemeteries in some cases), are in extremely poor condition. We have the duty, and the means to change this situation. No one else will do it.

Please make plans to join me behind Verdin's Farm and Garden on November 18th, at 9:00 A.M., to go and set a new marker on the grave of Pvt. Henry Redden, Mt. Olive Baptist Church. His current marker is broken in half. I am only planning to do this one stone that day, so it should not take much time from your day. This is a very easy access. Mr. Redden made many sacrifices in his service to the Confederacy; I think the least we can do is give him a couple of hours of our time, (at most), to help preserve his memory.
