Troy D. Harman has been a National Park
Service Ranger since 1984. He has a B.A. in History from Lynchburg College,
Virginia ('87), and an M.A. in History from Shippensburg University, Pennsylvania
('98). His assignments have included historical interpretation at Appomattox
Court House N.H.P., Fredericksburg and Spotsylvania N.M.P., Independence N.H.P.,
Valley Forge N.H.P., Eisenhower N.H.S. and since 1989 at Gettysburg N.M.P.
He also teaches courses in the history department at the Gettysburg Campus
of Harrisburg Area Community College. He has published with Civil War Times
and North & South Magazine, and was awarded the Bachelder Award by the
state of Pennsylvania in November 2003 for original research. His book Lee's
Real Plan at Gettysburg is in its third printing.
