The McGowan Camp will conduct special Business at the January 15, 2004 meeting to Ratify the Camp Constitution.

Each member is urged to review the document on line prior to the meeting or you may obtain a copy from Commander Simpson.

The Confederate Veteran and The Southern Mercury

The McGowan Camp voted to purchase 10 subscriptions to send out to various Laurens County officials and libraries for 2004.  This annual subscription will be a valuable tool in educating Laurens County residents in our Southern Confederate history and the cause and purpose of the Sons of Confederate Veterans.

If you would like to purchase additional annual subscriptions to either magazine and ear mark them for a specific school of Local official, we encourage you to do so.

Remember all checks written to SCV Camp 40 are tax deductible

Additional subscriptions can be obtained at a cost of $24.00 each (either magazine), SIX issues per calendar year.




November Camp Speaker

Commander Rob Chumley, Sergeant Adam Ballenger Camp, No 68 in Spartanburg, wil  be our guest Speaker on November 20th.  Commadner Chumbley has presented progr  s in the past that have always been enjoyed by our membership.  Dont miss the   portunity to hear him again.

November Business

We have some important matters of Heritage business to bring before the Camp.   outh Caorlina Division Commander, Robert Roper III, has issued a request for e  h Camp in the Division to raise additional funds for the Heritage Defense Prog  m.  It is important that each McGowan Camp compatriot attend this meeting.  We  ill also give you additional details on the Annual Secession Ball to be held on  December 20th at the Laurens National Guard Armory.
