Guardian Report

On February 21st, four compatriots got together to place markers on our veteran’s graves. We set out 4 monuments, continuing our battle against our enemies who wish to destroy our Southern heritage. This is an activity that is required of us if we truly wish for our descendants to inherit and carry on our forefather’s traditions.

The following men now have new tributes commemorating their Confederate service:

Joseph Hipp--Co. I, 3rd SCVI
John A. Dorrah--Co. G, 3rd SCVI
James A. Simpson--Co. D, Hampton’s Legion
James Allen Parks--Co. E, 6th SC Cavalry

Gentlemen, our regularly scheduled workday, (the Saturday following our monthly meeting), occurs this month on the same day as our Division Convention. I plan to attend the convention, and encourage every member of our camp to do likewise. Obviously, I will not plan to place markers on that day, (but if you’re not going, you are welcome to put out all the markers you can handle!)

I would like to set some out on the 27th of March, and would appreciate any and all the help that can possibly show up.

We will meet at 9:00A.M. behind Verdin’s Farm and Garden on Hwy 221, Laurens.
Also, I am still in need of someone to assist in scouting out some cemeteries around the county. This can be done on your own time, at your convenience, or with me when I go. I have listings of men’s graves that need to be found.

As always, if you need to contact me to discuss our cemetery duties, I can be reached at 575-2464.
