| This month's meeting will be on January 19th at the
Capitol theatre and Ice Cream Shop on the Square in downtown Laurens
across from the Confederate Memorial.. The meeting starts at 7:00. Come at
6:30 for fellowship before the meeting or if you'd like to purchase something
to eat at the Sandwich shop. Gary sez "Y'all come", we need everyone there
so we can discuss a potential new project that sounds very interesting. There will be no February McGowan Camp meeting, instead we plan to gather at one of Randy Burbage's Hunley presentations in Anderson. More information will be available at this month's meeting. You can look forward to a mark-this-down-on-your-calendar event for the March meeting, when we'll have Author Gordon Rhea as our speaker. |
| Cemetary Work Day
message from Robert Roper: Next Camp cemetery work day is Saturday January 21. We will meet at Verdins shortly before 12 Noon, to load headstones, and then proceed to Lee's Barbeque for lunch. From there, we will place stones in the Workman, Pitts-Boulware, and Pinson family cemeteries. The headstone for J H Pinson goes at his previously vandalized grave, that was restored several years ago by Camp members. Pinson is credited with having killed by bayonet yankee Col. Robert Shaw, during the battle at Battery Wagner. Shaw was the "hero" of the movie "Glory". This will be the first afternoon cemetery work in a long time, so I am hopeful that many of our Camp compatriots will be able to participate. Come on and enjoy some great fellowship, good food, and worthwhile work in honoring some true heroes. |
