Guardian Report
On the 27th of March, 2004, compatriots
of the McGowan camp joined together to place nine monuments in Laurens county
in our ongoing effort to preserve our Confederate heritage. I don’t believe
we could have been blessed with a more beautiful day to work.

The following men were honored:
Toliver R. Curry
William R. Hellams
Stanback Coker
J. Rowland Willis
David D. Brownlee
Toliver Armstrong
Marion Tyler Campbell
George W. Willis
Dempsy Armstrong
Folks, we normally meet on the Saturday
following our monthly meeting to perform our cemetery duty. Due to the fact
that the funeral for the Hunley crew will occur on that day, we will not
place markers on the 17th of April.

There are a lot of events going on in April,
and the 1st of May is Confederate Memorial day in Columbia, with the 8th
being Memorial day in Laurens. I would like to encourage everyone to attend
these special services, and to keep in mind why we have them.
Remember, it is your duty to ensure that the history of the South is preserved.
I greatly appreciate all the hard work you men do in accomplishing this goal,
and I have no doubt that your ancestors are looking down on you with great
smiles upon their faces!
