The Roll Call of the Dead is part of the
annual Confederate Memorial Day program in Columbia, SC, sponsored by the
Sons of Confederate Veterans and United Daughters of Confederacy held On
Saturday, May 1, beginning at Elmwood Cemetery, followed by a procession
to the Statehouse.

SC Order of Confederate Rose invites you to join us for
the Annual Reading of the SC Roll Call of the Dead Friday, April 30 At the
SC Statehouse, Columbia beginning at 10 am until after 12 Midnight. We need
people to read names, ring the bell, or to witness as each of the 18,000+
names of South Carolina Troops who perished during the War are read.

The 2004 Statewide Memorial Day
Observance will be held in Columbia, SC, Saturday, 1 May 2004. We will
begin with the Memorial Service at Elmwood, conducted by the ladies of the
UDC, at 10:00 AM. This located Off of Elmwood Ave. at the I-126 off-ramp
in downtown Columbia.
A procession from Elmwood Cemetery to the State House will
begin at 11:15 AM and conclude at 11:45 AM.
Upon arrival at the State House there will be a 45 minute service to honor
our Confederate Veterans.
We ask that everyone remember that this is a Memorial Day
Service to be conducted in a reverent and respectful manner. Adults
wishing to participate in the procession are asked to dress appropriately,
shorts and T-shirts are considered inappropriate. All flags should
remain furled during the procession except those displayed by the appropriate
Honor Guards. There will be properly identified Provost Guards on hand
to see that this event is conducted properly and assist in any way needed.
