| Clemson University Confederate Memorial Day
Observation |
| On Monday, May 10, 2004, at 10:00 a.m., on
the Military Heritage Plaza, near Tillman Hall on the Clemson University
Campus we will observe Confederate Memorial Day. The details of the brief program are not yet complete, but will include several speakers and a prayer for the brave soldiers of the Confederacy. President Barker has coined the term Clemson Family to encompass all the members of the Clemson University community, including students, faculty, staff, alumni and others. This service is not limited to the Clemson Family: everyone wishing to attend a reverent and respectful Confederate memorial day observation is encouraged to attend. Customary attire at Confederate memorial day observations includes a coat and tie for gentlemen and a nice dress for the ladies. A university environment, at 10:00 am on a week day, is quite a bit more casual than that. Please come and be welcomed however you choose to dress. As this is not a flag rally, we hope the only flags present will be those provided by the Honor Guard. They did their duty. We can do ours by attending one or more of the many Confederate memorial day services held throughout the South during the months of April and May.
