Day 1 ... 06-08-2004

Handed over my 400 bucks for a KB sitting in 6ft of grass located in the middle of nowhere (a long way from the city) Now all I have to do is work out how to get it home...!

07-08-04

Well..worked out a deal with the guy that owned the car, borrowed his trailer and got the car home!!! 10 minutes of oil, petrol and wd40 put in a charged battery and the old 215 popped to life...!!! idles quite nice too!!! Upon further inspection it appears to be a genuine low KLM garaged for life (except for the past 4 years parked in a paddock) Centura ... and I have to say Im absolutley rapped..!!! Then out came the water and sponge gave the old girl a quick wash down ....we found three minor rust spots ... it just keeps getting better!!!

Now to work out what to do with it... I at first was thinking 360!!!   So now Im thinking about what's best to do!!! that could take a few days!!
Okay then!!! Back to the VK for a couple of Days.... Everyones telling me to go the 265 .... thats it Im off to buy a 265...

11-08-04

Drove to Melbourne for the day and secured a pearler of a 265 with compressionn so close to factory that no work is really required on the block, ordered a new Cam. 480 deg lift with a not so long duration (I cant remember what it was, but it seemed to be what I want)as well as Timing Gear and adjustable retaining plate, Lifters, Springs Oil Pump. Also had a look around for a square bore 465 Holley and Manifold but I didn't find one :-(......yet !!! So the power plant is on its way can't wait to start pulling it down. Oh had a good score in the wheels department a mate of mine had a set of ROH wheels stored in his brothers shed and he gave them to me ....free, thanks dude, you get an extra hamburger when you come to visit on Sunday. Also I have started the hunt for the other bits and pieces I think Im looking for,  still much to do and find. Once I have sorced everything Im after it will be time to start pulling down the Cenntie then I can get some nifty snaps and start putting them up ... which reminds me tomorrow Im off to see the powder coater to arrange for the suspension and other components to be tarted up, something tells me Im going to have to get a bit of cash together over and above what I was thinking when I set out.

02-12-04

Well its been quite a few days since I have had time to even look at the computer, let alone the centura, however Im finally here with an update of where the car is at. So far, I have purchased the 265, all of the new timing gear, a 465 holley and manifold, a set of extractors and all the other engine bits and pieces. I have also purchased a full suspension package from Pedders including lowered springs, shocks, bushes, and to date the entire rear end has been removed and re-installed all components were sand blasted and then either painted or powder coated. I also had the ROH mags that I aquired machine polished and fitted with 225/65 R14 Rubber along with rubber I purchased a completed set of new mag nuts (lets face it why would you bother using crappy old ones?) Further to this I purchased a complete set of brake components and have fitted the rear end of these, currentley Im working on the front end ( I hope to have this complete by the upcoming week end. Right well enough of sitting here, Ive got to get back out to shed while I have some time off work .... Pics and more tales coming soon.

Another couple of weeks have passed and Ive finshed the engine build and placed it back into the bay
Its a bit better looking now than the before shot and its got a nice big holley on it to boot.. Having a few tuning issues at present and
not having built a Hemi before is making things take longer to sort out ....So if there are any tuning gurus out there ... well I could use a bit of help right about
Now!!!

removing the heater unit to replace the core (a job I wish I hadn't started) and various other bits and pieces. All in all the car is not far off been ready to drive to the Murray for COTM. Heres a quick pic taken with the phone
