Dear Friend,
I have come to rely on our friendship. In time of greatest need my first thought is to turn to you. This insight is both intriguing and unsettling, comfort and caution at once.
I have recently, as in the past, been the victim of foolish choices. In my rush to distance myself from you, to find a similarly intense relationship in another, I let my guard down, did not listen to my instincts and I was blindsided. I was hurt. Even so I felt always that I could withstand the pain, I could stand against the abuse, this time, because I no longer stood alone.
My intent here is not to delve into the incident itself but just to thank you for your support through it. Our relationship, our friendship, has been instrumental, invaluable in helping me to help myself.
