Hydration systems for land use are not uncommon as the importance
of remaining hydrated during physical activity is well recognised &
cannot be overstated, but there are few proposals for systems
particularly designed for scuba diving environments.
Scuba diving has its own unique demands & effects on the body & it
is wise to regularly replace depleted fluids lost during diving through
perspiration, respiration & elimination. Some of the physical
demands encountered include the carrying of heavy gear to a dive
site, suiting up in hot weather & prolonged finning. Breathing very
dry compressed air & the effects of prolonged immersion at depth,
including immersion diuresis that causes an increase in urine
formation & the "need to go", are some of the other factors that
also contribute to dehydration & therefore a risk of
decompression sickness (DCS).

ScubaTap is a system that provides a solution to the physiological
hydration demands encountered whilst diving. The intake of fluids
regularly also has the added benefit of making ear pressure
equalisation easier through the action of swallowing when drinking.
