Your newly adopted rescue Sheltie has been neutered or spayed and received a complete set of vaccinations. Any health problems with rescue Shelties are addressed prior to adoption, or at least the prospective owner is made aware of any chronic health problems.
Rescue Shelties have lived in a foster home environment for a minimum of two weeks. Any behavioral issues are identified and/or addressed while in foster care. Foster families know exactly what type of home is best suited for the rescued Sheltie and will place accordingly. Therefore, the prospective adopter knows that they will get a dog best suited to their lives.
Although SC Sheltie Rescue occasionally gets puppies, most of our dogs are mature and most are housebroken. Many adopters enjoy having a mature pet which has outgrown many of the puppy habits such as chewing!
And best of all, the adopter of a rescue Sheltie knows that they have given an abused, neglected or abandoned dog a second chance at a happy life. The love you receive from a Rescue Sheltie is the greatest reward!!
