"Shadow"
Adopted

Shadow was turned into Sheltie Rescue as a found dog. He is an older guy, probably about 10 y/o. He was treated for heartworms, neutered and given all his shots. Shadow is a real sweetheart and it really makes us wonder what his story is. After an x-ray was taken, we discovered that his sides are filled with buckshot. None of us could imagine how anyone could shoot a dog that is this affectionate!!
His arthritis often makes it difficult for him to get around, but nonetheless, he lives up to his name and is a constant shadow of his former foster dad, and now official owner, George.
"Mo"
Adopted

"Mo" was one of the first dogs that SC Sheltie Rescue took in. He was bailed out of an animal shelter, suffering from a severe case of heartworm. Mo had an awful cough, partly from the heartworm disease and partly from an upper respiratory infection. His blue merle coat was badly matted and tinted red from exposure to the sun and bad diet. He was not neutered and a large, cancerous mast cell tumor was discovered on his neck not long after his heartworm treatment was completed. It was estimated that Mo was about 8 years old at the time of his rescue about a year ago.
Phyllis Beasley took Mo into foster care. It took many months for him to gain strength and energy, although his trusting, loving nature never waivered. Finally, after successful treatment of the heartworm and removal of the mast cell tumor, Mo was ready for adoption. By that time, however, Mo had completely won the hearts of Phyllis and her family and they adopted him themselves. In the past year, Mos loving and obedient nature has earned him his Canine Good Citizen certification and certification with Therapy Dogs International. More recently, Mo passed the rigorous 22-station exam necessary to certify as a Delta Society Pet Partners Therapy Dog. Mo will soon be spreading the word about the loving nature of rescue Shelties at area nursing homes and bringing his own special good will into the lives of lonely seniors.
