One part of the Navy Directory of particular interest is the section titled Ships' Roster of Officers. Here, in 37 pages, is a list of every commissioned and warrant officer assigned to each of the Navy's commissioned ships and attached aviation units. I decided to see about posting this information, but since there is just sooooo much information to be transcribed, it's going to take a while. Therefore, I will post this in chunks - starting with those ships whose names start with the letter A and the two Y & Z ships. More will follow at irregular intervals, I hope.
