Overview:

- Hostage rescue mod for CS 1.6
- 32 players maximum (16 CTs, 16 Ts)

Disclaimer:

- Mature audiences only (violence, language, adult humor)

Mission:

- Terrorists have taken 4 hostages at a rave party!
- Counter-Terrorists: Crash the party, rescue hostages, kill terrorists. Don't forget the NVGs...
- Terrorists: Prevent the CTs from rescuing the hostages.

Hints:

- The map is dark, so buy NVGs or use a flashlight
   -- Each CT receives free body armor and MP-5 so they can more easily afford NVGs
   -- Some free armor and weapons available to Ts, but Ts main advantage is that the club has many good ambush locations (CTs, check those corners!)
- The map is big, and the hostages are not all in the same room
   -- Although cs_rave3 can be enjoyed with any number of players, it's best enjoyed with a large number of players
   -- Unlike most hostage rescue maps, the hostages in cs_rave3 are not all in the same room, so CTs must work together to succeed (more challenging)
   -- In "standard" maps like cs_militia and cs_assault, it takes about 1 minute to rescue the hostages. In cs_rave3, due to the size of the map and the fact that the hostages are not in the same room, it takes about 2 minutes to rescue the hostages (or about 3 minutes if you take the hostages through the sewers to the truck, or up the fire escape stairs to the helicopter). Therefore, "mp_roundtime 8" might give CTs a better chance of success.

Truck (CT Spawn Point x8, Hostage Rescue Zone):

This is one of two CT spawn points, and one of two hostage rescue zones.

Inside the truck is a camera which looks down on the front entrance to the club.

The truck faces a wall with a poster on it, advertising "Ladie's Night" at the club.

Below the poster is an arrow, leading you to the front entrance of the club.

As you follow the alleyway toward the club, you have 3 choices:
Climb up the ladder to the ledge on your right
Go through the brick corridor at the end of the alley toward the culvert (leading to sewers which allow access to the club bathroom and loading dock)
Follow the signs toward the front entrance of the club

Helicopter (CT Spawn Point x8, Hostage Rescue Zone):

This is one of two CT spawn points, and one of two hostage rescue zones.

Inside the helicopter is a camera which looks down on the rear entrance to the club (loading dock).

From the helicopter, you'll see a vent, a ladder, and a door.

Make a selection:
Climb into the vent (leading to front entrance and dance floor of club)
Climb down the ladder (and lamp post) to the basketball court below
Go through the door into the apartment complex (leading to front entrance of club, and vent above dance floor)

Ledge:

This ledge is a good place to cover other CTs returning to the truck with hostages. Watch out for that window above you, across the alley.

Climbing down from the ledge, you have 3 choices:
Go to the truck (CT spawn point)
Go through the brick corridor at the end of the alley toward the culvert (leading to sewers which allow access to the club)
Follow the signs toward the front entrance of the club

Culvert:

From the truck (CT spawn point), you can enter a culvert area where the sewer begins. A ledge around the upper lip of the culvert can be used for ambushing your opponent. Running jump onto this ledge from the stairs (hard difficulty).

Make a selection:
Enter the sewers (which allow access to club bathroom and loading dock)
Go through the brick hallway toward the front entrance of the club
Go through the hallway to the ledge near the truck (CT spawn point)
Go through the hallway to the truck (CT spawn point)

Alley Intersection:

This is an alleyway intersection.

Make a selection:
Follow the sign (poster) toward the club front entrance
Climb the chain link fence leading to the basketball court (allows access to helicopter (CT spawn point) and loading dock at the rear of the club)
Climb the fire escape stairs leading to the apartment complex (allows you to reach the helicopter (CT spawn point) and a vent leading to the club dance floor)
Go through the brick corridor at the end of the alley toward the culvert (leading to sewers which allow access to the club)
Go down the alley to the ledge near the truck (CT spawn point)
Go down the alley to the truck (CT spawn point)

Front of Club:

This is the front entrance to the club.

Hint: if you're dropping down into the alley in front of the club from the "TV room" (accessible from the vent system), you might want to aim for the dumpster to reduce the amount of damage taken.

Make a selection:
Enter the club through the front door
Go down the alley (leading to CT spawn points, culvert/sewer, and loading dock at the rear of the club)
Climb the fire escape stairs leading to the apartment complex (allows you to reach the helicopter (CT spawn point) and a vent leading to the club dance floor)

Fire Escape Stairs:

These stairs lead from the alleyway intersection to the apartment complex. A glass door (breakable) leads into the first apartment room.

Hint: If you're a CT trying to lead hostages up the fire escape stairs to the helicopter (hostage rescue zone), it might take some practice to figure out how best to exploit the hostage AI. If you go up the stairs and pause in the corner until the hostage(s) catch up to you, then move to the next corner and wait, etc., it will work best. With some patience, you can get those pesky hostages to follow you almost anywhere (but they won't climb ladders due to a flaw in the AI). It might he wise to split the hostages up among CTs, or have one or more CTs "nudging" (pushing) the hostages up the stairs from behind as you lead the way.

Make a selection:
Enter the apartment complex (glass door at the top of the fire escape), which leads to the helicopter (CT spawn point) and vent above dance floor
Go to the club front entrance
Go to the alleyway intersection (leading to CT spawn points, culvert/sewer, and loading dock at the rear of the club)

Apartment Complex - Dark Room with Vent:

This dark room is a good place to stage an ambush. A door leads further into the apartment complex. Fire escape stairs (glass door) lead down to the alleyway intersection.

A vent in the corner leads to the dance floor of the club.

Make a selection:
Go through the door into the apartment complex, which leads to the helicopter (CT spawn point) and vent above dance floor
Climb into the vent (leading to dance floor of club)
Go to the fire escape stairs (leading to alleyway intersection)

Apartment Complex - Hall:

At one end of the hall is a door leading to the dark room at the top of the fire escape stairs. At the other end is a spiral staircase leading to the helicopter (CT spawn point).

There are four doors branching off from the hallway. Three of them have "easter eggs" when you use them. The fourth door leads to an apartment room with a bathroom overlooking the alley (excellent ambush location for snipers).

Make a selection:
Go through the door at the end of the hallway to the spiral stairs (leads to the helicopter (CT spawn point) and vent above dance floor)
Go through the door at the end of the hallway into the dark room at the top of the fire escape stairs
Go into the apartment room leading to the bathroom (sniper ambush location)

Apartment Complex - Spiral Stairs:

At the top of these spiral stairs is a short hall leading to the helicopter. At the bottom of the stairs is the apartment complex hallway.

Make a selection:
Go up the stairs (leads to the helicopter (CT spawn point) and vent above dance floor)
Go down the stairs to the apartment complex hall

Apartment Complex - Apartment Room:

This apartment room leads to a bathroom which makes an excellent ambush location for snipers.

Make a selection:
Go into the bathroom
Go to the apartment complex hall

Apartment Complex - Apartment Bathroom:

This bathroom provides an excellent ambush location for snipers.

Watch out for counter-fire from the ledge across the alley.

To move through the window, shoot both glass panes and the wooden post between them.

Make a selection:
Jump down from the window (aim for dumpster to reduce damage taken) and go to the truck (CT spawn point)
Jump down from the window, then climb up the ladder onto the ledge across the alley
Jump down from the window, then go down the alley towards the club front entrance
Go to the apartment room

Basketball Court:

This basketball court has a small alleyway leading towards the front entrance of the club, and a ladder (above a lamp post) leading up to the helicopter (CT spawn point).

In addition, a long tunnel leads toward the loading dock at the rear of the club.

A pickup truck lies abandoned in this tunnel.

Make a selection:
Go down the small alleyway and over the chain link fence towards the front entrance of the club
Climb up the lamp post, then up the ladder, to the helicopter (CT spawn point)
Move down the tunnel towards the loading dock at the rear of the club

Hotdog Stand:

This courtyard features a hotdog stand and a ledge with a blank billboard (ready for spraying). A brick corridor leads towards the loading dock at the rear of the club. A long tunnel leads towards the helicopter (CT spawn point) and front entrance of the club.

Make a selection:
Go through the brick corridor towards the loading dock (note the easter egg if you use the door in that corridor)
Go down the long tunnel towards the helicopter and club front entrance

Police car at top of alleyway:

There is a police car, lights flashing, parked at this end of an alleyway that slopes downward towards the loading dock at the back of the club. A small brick corridor leads towards the helicopter (CT spawn point) and front entrance of the club.

Make a selection:
Go through the brick corridor towards the helicopter and club front entrance
Go down the alleyway towards the loading dock

Loading Dock:

This is the loading dock at the rear entrance to the club. A manhole cover leads down into the sewers. A "crack house" lies across the alley (note the easter egg if you use the door). A long alleyway slopes upward, leading towards the helicopter (CT spawn point) and front entrance of the club.

Make a selection:
Enter the club through the loading dock doors
Move up the alley towards the helicopter and club front entrance
Open the manhole cover (press use to open) and climb down into the sewers

Inside the Club - Loading Dock (T Spawn Point x2):

You are inside the club, just inside the loading dock area. The corridor leads to the dance floor, the generator room, and the storage/freezer room.

In addition, stairs lead up to the security room.

Make a selection:
Leave the club via the loading dock doors
Go down the hall to the dance floor
Go down the hall to the generator room
Go down the hall to the storage/freezer room
Climb up the stairs to the security room

Inside the Club - Generator Room (T Spawn Point x1, Hostage x1):

This room contains a generator which you can use to turn electrical power on/off to the club. If you turn the power off, emergency strobe lights will help you find an exit (epileptics beware). The generator can also be destroyed, killing power (resets next round).

One of the hostages is being held inside the janitor closet.

Make a selection:
Go down the hall towards the loading dock
Go down the hall to the dance floor
Go down the hall, then climb the stairs to the security room

Inside the Club - Storage/Freezer Room (Hostages x2):

This is a storage room with a large freezer. A hall leads towards the loading dock at the back of the club. Another hall leads to the bar.

Two hostages are being held inside the freezer. Note the excellent camping opportunities in this area.

Make a selection:
Go down the hall towards the loading dock
Go down the hall to the bar

Inside the Club - Bar (T Spawn Point x3):

This is a small bar, well-stocked with glass bottles for you to shoot. A shotgun lies on the counter. Note that you can lift up the panel at the end of the bar by using it. A hall leads to the dance floor. Behind the bar, another hall leads to the storage/freezer room.

Go to the dance floor
Go behind the bar into the storage/freezer room

Inside the Club - Cashier's Cage:

Just inside the front entrance of the club is a cashier's cage. A button the wall (inside the room) allows you to raise and lower the metal door protecting the cashier.

Using the PC allows you to see a camera showing the entrance to the club.

Stairs lead down toward the bathroom and dance floor. Make a selection:
Go down the stairs, then onto the dance floor
Go down the stairs, then enter the bathroom
Exit the club via the front entrance

Inside the Club - Bathroom (Hostage x1):

This bathroom has a sink, 4 stalls, and a urinal. The soap dispenser has an easter egg when you use it, as do 2 of the stall doors. One stall has a bloody toilet (another easter egg when used), while another stall has a hostage inside. The hallway outside the bathroom leads to the dance floor, the cashier's cage, or the club front entrance.

You can shoot the floor (around the drainage grate) to allow access to the sewers.

Make a selection:
Go down the hall to the dance floor
Go up the stairs, then enter the cashier's cage
Go up the stairs, then exit the club via the front entrance
Shoot the floor and go down into the sewers

Sewers:

This sewer network connects the loading dock (rear of club), the club bathroom, and the culvert near the truck (CT spawn point).

You can shoot the floor (around the drainage grate) to allow access to the bathroom.

Hint: If you're trying to rescue the hostages by taking them from the bathroom into the sewers, it takes a little bit of practice to determine the best way for them to follow you (try standing next to the crate when you're in the sewer, then look up... after jiggling around, the hostage will usually plop into the sewer). Here you can see one of the hostages after partially "plopping" into the sewer (she's standing on the crate until you move back from her).

The same principle applies when trying to get the hostages to follow you into the sewers by "falling" down through the manhole cover (stand underneath the manhole and they'll eventually fall in, taking no damage). Remember that CTs can also "nudge" (push) hostages in the direction you want them to go; however, due to a flaw in the AI, hostages can not climb up ladders. With a little patience, you can get those crazy hostages to follow you almost anywhere (splitting the hostages up among CTs sometimes makes it easier for them to follow you).

Shoot the floor, then climb up into the bathroom
Exit the sewers by the loading dock (use the manhole cover to open)
Go through the sewers to the culvert

Inside the Club - Dance Floor:

The dance floor has a main entrance (red double doors), a short hallway leading to the bar, and a hall (behind the door) leading to the generator room and loading dock.

Two spiral stairwells lead up to the balcony.

Make a selection:
Go through the double doors to the cashier's cage
Go through the double doors to the bathroom
Go down the short hallway to the bar
Go down the hall (behind the door) to the generator room
Go down the hall (behind the door), then climb the stairs to the security room
Climb either set of spiral stairs to the balcony

Inside the Club - Dance Floor Balcony:

From the balcony, a hall leads to the VIP lounge, while another hall (behind the security door) leads to the security room. Two spiral stairwells lead down to the dance floor.

Three vents in the ceiling allow access to the balcony. The DJ booth glass is breakable, but it takes about a full clip of MP-5 ammo.

Hint: You can jump down from the balcony onto the speakers to reduce the amount of damage taken.

Go though the door to the security room
Go down either set of spiral stairs to the dance floor

Inside the Club - VIP Lounge (T Spawn Point x2, Hostage x1):

One of the hostages is being held in the VIP lounge.

Make a selection:
Go down the hall to the dance floor balcony

Inside the Club - Security Room (T Spawn Point x4):

This security room has PCs which can be used to view security cameras inside the club. Some body armor lies on the floor.

A short hallway leads to the dance floor balcony (through the door). Another hall leads to the DJ booth and manager's office. A door in the corner of the room leads to a stairwell leading down to the loading dock.

Make a selection:
Go through the door to the balcony
Go down the hall to the DJ booth
Go down the hall to the manager's office
Go down the stairs to the loading dock

Inside the Club - DJ Booth (T Spawn Point x2):

This DJ booth has several buttons you can use. The main panel has 3 buttons: "You may fire when ready" (left), "Pure energy" (right), and music on/off (center). On the left wall of the DJ booth, a button turns the dance floor light (disco ball and laser) on/off. On the right wall, a button turns the dance floor smoke on/off.

The "Track Control" button on the rear wall of the DJ booth allows you to select from 3 different dance tracks.

Go down the hall to the security room
Go down the hall to the manager's office

Inside the Club - Manager's Office (T Spawn Point x2):

The manager's office has a MAC-10 on the desk, along with a PC you can use to monitor the security camera in the bathroom.

A secret door can be used to make a quick getaway to either the VIP lounge or dance floor balcony ("use" the surfer poster on the wall to open the secret door).

Go down the hall to the security room
Open the secret door, then go to the VIP lounge
Open the secret door, then go to the dance floor balcony

Vents:

From the helicopter, you can enter the vent system. These vents lead to the dance floor balcony (3 openings for simultaneous assault) as well as to the "TV room."

Make a selection:
Drop down through one of the 3 vent openings onto the dance floor balcony
Drop down through the vent into the "TV room"

Vents:

From the apartment complex (dark room), you can enter the vent system. This vent leads to the dance floor balcony (3 openings for simultaneous assault)."

TV Room:

This small apartment is accessible only from the vent system. Looks like someone got fed up with their TV and blew their brains out. Use the door for an easter egg. To move through the window, shoot both glass panes and the wooden post between them. Beyond the window is a small balcony overlooking the front entrance to the club. When you jump down, aim for the dumpster to minimize damage taken.

Shoot the window, then jump down onto the dumpster in front of the club
