The mutilated bodies of BETH and TIM STRODE are shown heaped between the bed and the wall. A flash and the sound of a camera goes off. The gutted body of GARY HUNT is shown in a heap on the floor. The flash and camera go off again. OFFICER HARRIS Who the fuck made this mess!? Camera pulls back to reveal officers all over the room, running about. OFFICER HARRIS, a lean, blond officer in his mid 20’s is standing next to the officer taking the pictures. OFFICER 1 I have no idea. OFFICER HARRIS How many bodies did you find? OFFICER 1 In the whole house? Harris nods. OFFICER 1 (cont’d) Eight. OFFICER HARRIS Jesus Christ... What a slaughter house. So, how many is that total? OFFICER 1 Let’s see. Eight here, one outside, the two at the station, that Sims asshole and all the bodies at the sanitarium... A lot. OFFICER HARRIS So much for reinstating Halloween in Haddonfield. Do you think Myers did it? OFFICER 1 Oh hell no! That freak’s been dead since ‘89. Besides, see that guy there? The officer nods toward Hunt’s body. Harris nods. OFFICER 1 (cont’d) That ain’t Myers’ MO. I’ve never seen him gut someone like that. Then there’s the father in the basement with his head splattered all over the place, and that room at the sanitarium looks like a god damn slaughter house. This is the work of a copycat. A very good one at that too. Might want to keep an eye out for this one in the comin’ years. Harris walks over to the broken window and looks out at the town. OFFICER HARRIS I think you’re right. fade out. main title sequence The “Halloween Theme” starts up as the credits begin. A knife slashes across the screen and the theme becomes full blown as the title appears, Halloween: The Madness of Michael Myers. The credits continue to roll through the upcoming voice over. TOMMY (V.O.) 23 years is a long time to be terrified, but that’s how long it’s been since I first laid eyes on him, the bogey man. ext. myers house - day We see the Myers house. Even in the daylight it still looks haunting and forbidding. TOMMY (V.O.) This is where it all started. Where Michael Myers spilled the blood of his very first victim. For almost 40 years he has driven this little Illinois town into the darkness of his own personal hell. int. myers house - kara’s bedroom - day The room is empty. Dried blood can be seen on the floor and walls in some spots. TOMMY (V.O.) I saw the end of him in that room. I’ve had nightmares about that room for the last six years. They have gotten better though. It’s been six long years. ext. haddonfield streets - night We see a deserted road on the edge of Haddonfield. A HOMELESS MAN is eating some kind of cooked animal. TOMMY (V.O.) If my theory about Michael is correct, he should have appeared back in 1998. THE SHAPE suddenly materializes from the darkness behind the old man. He reaches for the man, then pauses. TOMMY (V.O.)(cont’d) But no sightings of him were reported, and no deaths either. I’m positive he’s dead. The Shape pulls back and disappears into the darkness again. The old man seems to sense something and turns around. He shrugs and continues to eat. TOMMY (V.O.)(cont’d) This will make what I have to ask Kara so much easier. ext. APARTMENT building - day We move in on a 10 story building. Super impose “Springfield, Illinois, April 26, 2001” TOMMY (O.S.) So, what did she say? int. tommy and kara’s APARTMENT - day It’s a medium sized room. A few boxes are stacked up on the floor and piles of stuff are all over the room. KARA STRODE is sitting at the table just hanging up the phone. TOMMY DOYLE is standing beside her, a little anxious. KARA She said it was a nice room, but... TOMMY But what? KARA It’s too expensive Tommy, we can’t afford it. Tommy runs his hand through his hair and lets out a long sigh. TOMMY Well, I do have an alternate suggestion. Kara perks up. KARA What? TOMMY A friend of mine, a good friend of mine will allow us to rent out a house he has at a monthly price we’ll be able to afford. Kara stands up, smiling. KARA That’s great! TOMMY He’s also found us some good paying jobs. Kara frowns. KARA What’s wrong with the ones we have now? TOMMY We’ll have to leave them. Kara’s frown deepens. KARA Why? Tommy Doyle, where the hell is this house? TOMMY Haddonfield. Kara becomes angry. KARA What!? Are you crazy?! I’m not going back to that town! Tommy tries to calm her down. TOMMY Kara, we have no choice. We have to be out of here at the first of the month. KARA I know Tommy, but Haddonfield... I don’t think I could handle that again. TOMMY Kara, Michael is dead. You saw what happened to him. KARA I know Tommy, but the paper never mentioned his body being found in the Myers house. The police credited all the murders to a copycat. Tommy sighs. TOMMY Kara, we’ve been over all this before. Sheriff Mayhue proclaimed Michael dead in ‘89, and he was convinced it was a copycat in ‘95 before he died. If the word got out that Michael had come back it would have put everybody in an uproar. It was a wise idea to tell everyone that it was a copycat, then everybody could go on thinking Myers had been dead all this time. KARA I don’t know Tommy. Tommy puts his hands on Kara’s shoulders. TOMMY He’s dead Kara. Thorn appeared in ‘98 and he never showed up then. No deaths or sightings were reported. Remember? KARA Well, if you think we’ll be alright. Tommy smiles. TOMMY Trust me, we don’t have to worry about Michael Myers anymore. Kara smiles back and gives Tommy a hug. int. tommy and kara’s house - bedroom - night Tommy and Kara are sleeping in their bed. I think Michael’s evil has finally ended. int. myers house - michael’s room - night Michael still stands in front of the mirror as he hears Tommy’s last word echoing away in his mind. michael’s pov Michael sees his reflection in the mirror. We can only see the right eye. A single tear rolls down the side of his face. back to scene Michael lets go of the mask with one hand and punches the mirror savagely. Glass shards fly everywhere. Michael slips the mask back on and turns around. The Shape walks out of the room. ext. haddonfield streets - day We track down a street from a distance. All the trees are missing most of their leaves which are fall colored and blowing down the street and yards. Super impose “October 31st, 2001, HALLOWEEN” We continue to track down the street. Tommy looks up as he’s putting the rest of the bacon onto the other plate. TOMMY Bad night? KARA Yeah, it’s that time of the year again. Tommy sets the pan into the sink and walks over to Kara. TOMMY Did you have the dream again? KARA (nodding) Same one every year. I know what you told me Tommy, but I’m still not sure that he’s... TOMMY Kara, he’s dead. Trust me, he won’t be coming back. Kara looks up at Tommy with a worried look. KARA Are you sure? Tommy puts his hands on Kara’s shoulders. TOMMY I’m positive. Tommy smiles at Kara and she returns the smile. Tommy pulls Kara into a soft kiss. DANNY (O.S.) Ewwwww!! Gross! Tommy breaks the kiss and both he and Kara look over to the kitchen entry way. Standing in the entry is 12 year old DANNY STRODE, a mocking disgusted look on his face. TOMMY Hey sport! You get bored watching cartoons with Stephen? DANNY Naaa. I was just getting some orange juice. But now I don’t think I can stomach any. Tommy turns to Danny with a mock look of anger in his eyes. TOMMY Why you! Tommy charges Danny who runs into the living room laughing. TOMMY (cont’d) Get back here you little squirt! Kara stands in the kitchen laughing. KARA Be careful you two! int. tommy and kara’s house - living room - day Danny comes running into the living room followed by Tommy. Sitting on the couch watching cartoons is 6 year old STEPHEN LLOYD. His attention is turned toward Danny and Tommy as they run by. Tommy catches Danny and tosses him on the couch next to Stephen. TOMMY I’ll teach you to make fun of me. Tommy starts tickling Danny crazily. Danny starts to laugh uncontrollably. DANNY Oh God! Tommy... stop! Tommy grins at him. TOMMY Not until you apologize. Tommy, Danny and Stephen look toward the kitchen and see Kara standing in the entry way finishing up her eggs. Tommy grins. TOMMY Just having a little fun. DANNY Yeah mom, don’t worry about me. I just think it’s fun drilling Tommy. Tommy ruffles Danny’s hair and smiles. TOMMY Ain’t he cute? Kara stifles a smile, shaking her head. KARA What am I going to do with you two? Kara turns around and goes back into the kitchen. Tommy crouches down by Stephen. TOMMY Hey sport, you ready to go trick-or-treating tonight. Stephen’s face lights up. STEPHEN Yeah! I hope the people in this town give out the same good stuff as they did at our old town. TOMMY Don’t worry kiddo, there isn’t a lack of good candy here. Kara walks back into the living room shrugging into her light coat. TOMMY Where are you going? KARA Just for a short walk. Your breakfast is getting cold Tommy. Tommy springs to his feet. TOMMY Oh shoot! Tommy heads quickly for the kitchen with Danny and Stephen giggling at him. Kara shakes her head. KARA I’ll be back soon guys. Both boys nod as they are transfixed by the TV screen again. ext. myers house - day The old Myers house looks even more decrepit in the daylight. The wood is old and a close look can distinguish two very badly peeled and chipped paint jobs. Most of the windows are broken and the old curtains that remain are ripped and worn. Kara walks up the sidewalk toward the house. She stops on the sidewalk in front of the front door. She looks at the house trying to control her emotions. KARA Mom, dad, Tim, Beth. I miss you guys so much. The tears start flowing now. KARA (cont’d) I still can’t believe that... She tries to get her tears to subside. KARA (cont’d) Screw you Michael. No... No, fuck you Michael! We’re just going to walk down to that place down the street. KARA You mean that place that had all the pumpkins set up on the tables. TOMMY Yeah. It’s not that far and I figured a nice walk would do us some good. The boys are getting their heavy sweaters on. KARA Well, make sure you pick out a good one. Tommy smiles. TOMMY Of course we will.
