Kalo is a kitsune... well, actually, it might be easier to just think of him as a fox. He only has one tail, hardly ever uses magic anymore, and his subspecies of kitsune is actually closer to normal foxes than it is to 'traditional' kitsune.
Anyway, Kalo has two different forms he currently uses: anthro and non-anthro. Since they have more similarities than they do differences, it might be easier to just combine the two forms into one description.
In both forms: Kalo's fur is a brownish-red (More red than brown). His tail has a white tip... or more accurately, it is half-white. The 'tip' makes up more than half of his tail. Also, his tail appears to be slightly crooked, but it is actually just less fluffy on one side.
When non-anthro (Much smaller (fox-sized) and on all fours): Kalo wears a white t-shirt that covers most of his body, similar to the novelty shirts that some people make their dogs wear.
When anthro (On two legs): Kalo stands at about five feet tall. He usually wears either a casual pair of blue jeans and white t-shirt (with tacky slogan), or a full-length hooded robe the color of his fur. He is usually wearing the former, unless otherwise noted.
Kalo usually uses his non-anthro form unless otherwise noted, and switches to his anthro form when the situation calls for it. If you're not sure which form he's in, please feel more than free to ask.

The truth is, spells that require a person's true name DO work on Kalo, it's just that there are too many chances to make a typo in a 35 word truename. But I digress...
 
Kalo is a kitsune, although it might be a bit hard to tell by just looking at him. As far as visible appearances are concerned, he's just another single-tailed anthro fox. For those with magic, though, there's a different story... (Page me and we'll figure out what exactly you can sense from Kalo)
 
His fur is a deep brownish red with white markings. His tail is half-white, and perhaps a small-to-medium bit floofier than average. It's also probably the only part of Kalo that's well groomed.
 
His hair doesn't really stand out, being short and identical in color to his fur. His eyes are a deep blue.
 
He stands at somewhere around five feet tall.
 
He's usually wearing a casual pair of blue jeans and white t-shirt, with the slogan 'It's a Prey Thing / (you wouldn't understand)' on the front.

Personal Info:

I've spent a good deal of time in various MU*s... I like to think I'm pretty experienced at roleplaying.
You know, now that I think about it... I'd have a pretty good resume', if I listed my experiences. I think I'll do that.
Note: Names are abbreviated for one reason or another.

BiNg and later UC at SM.NET: Several years at an Earthbound-themed interactive fiction board. Learned basic RP ettiquette (eventually).
PS and SR at M3: About a year at a Megaman-themed MUSH. My first real experience of real-time roleplaying. I learned a great deal about designing your character, description skills, battle and social RP, basic MU commands... I learned a lot of stuff. Lots. M3 was filled with experienced RPers, and was the perfect environment for me to learn the basics. Even if I did basically stumble a lot during my time there.
Wro and much later WD at VLM: M3's sister Mush. Learned a lot of stuff there, too... More social and battle RP skills.
Hiatus: I spend a long time not doing any RP at this point. But my typing speed improved, I think.
Scr and KF at VGR: 14 months and counting at a Vore-themed MUCK. My first official venture into the world of furry... learned TS/Yiff skills, more social RP skills, basic MUCK commands... Lots of stuff.
