"Anyway me & C had thought of a very clever idea, which, looking back now, seems laughable. We handed Charlotte our photo of C & Steve, and on the back we'd written a note (O lord) " Hi Steve, remember us?! Come & say hello! caroline & laura"... So charlotte said she'd give it to him. She didnt look too pleased."

Actually, I don't think she looked too pissed off or anything. I thought she was really nice. She said she probably wouldn't see him because they were just about to leave, but she'd try to pass it on to him.

Once Laura and I got out of the sun and back to where we were staying, once common sense and reasoning began to kick in, we realised just what complete twats we are. Thank God Charlotte was about to leave. She won't have been able to give that note to Lamacq. Phew.

A few days before, we'd won tickets to see Super Furry Animals record a live set for the Evening Session at the BBC Maida Vale studios. Interesting fact: when Laura went on a trip to London recently with her friends from Art school, they passed the Maida Vale studios. Laura was telling them of our escapades, and none of them were even slightly impressed that we'd managed to meet Lamacq. They were substantially more impressed by the fact that Laura had been inside the famous Maida Vale recording studios.

I think we also must have mentioned we were going to see Super Furries on the note to Lamacq. Anyway, the next day we got a train to London. We didn't have to get to Maida Vale until 7:30, which gave us plenty of time to do a bit of shopping, sight-seeing, and, err, why not go and say hello to Steve Lamacq?

Ok, so we made our way to the now familiar radio 1 HQ, and asked the security bloke if Steve (yes, we were on first name terms by this point..ahem..) was about. He said he was, and we kinda forced this security bloke, lets just call him Hans (Hans?! He was asian! - Caroline), to ring him up.... so he did..

Lamacq wasnt there, but Hans left a message on his answerphone, telling him that 2 young girls were there to see him (?!) So we waited around in reception.. and waited.. and then saw a familiar face! (Only fans of radio 1 will know who this is, but ah well) yes, it was the one & only Chris Moyles, who'd just finished his radio show. He was playing round on his website on the wall .. Note: he seems a lot calmer in real life.. still cheeky though. And then, oh wow, guess who I spotted at the door! Comedy Dave, my radio hero! So i proceeded to embarrass myself yet again by saying, rather too loudly "Oh my God!" Then numerous people turned round to see which moron said it, and I went bright red. The end. :(

I didn't see Comedy Dave, but then I'm not even sure what he looks like. God Laura, you've had a whole conversation with Steve Lamacq, and you're ecstatic about catching a glimpse of Comedy Dave?! By the way, Chris Moyles was sniggering at the profiles for the other DJs on the Radio One website.

So we waited around for a bit, on the weird Ikea stylee chairs. Eventually, when he thought the coast must be clear, Lamacq came downstairs. Lamacq thinks to himself: "Ah, I'll just go and have a nice glass of cider, and a packet of salt and vinegar crisps. Oh my God. It's those two scary teenage girls again! I thought they'd have gone by now. Oh well, better get rid of them..."

Lamacq: So you're in London to see Super Furry Animals, and you thought you'd say hello.

Caroline: Err, yeah. (Oh crap, he must have got the note.) So you got the note then?

Lamacq: Yeah, Charlotte gave it to me. She was really nice.

Eh? What the hell does that  mean, he's met her before surely? Laura reckons he said this with "a dreamy look in his eyes". He then went on to make excuses why he didn't bother saying hello to us the day before (cringe), and said something about how backstage there wasn't much protection from the sun, which lead him to point out how Laura had "caught the sun a bit." Ha ha! Then he legged it to the pub.

Did you know: Although live sets for Lamacq Live aren't broadcast until 10:00, they're actually recorded much earlier in the evening! Shock horror! They're not actually 'live'! We asked Lamacq why this was, and apparently it's because the residents around Maida Vale used to complain about people coming out pissed and making a load of noise.
