Tulip Paper Basket

These are the instructions on how to make a basket from a square piece of paper.  You can make the basket any size that you want, just as long as you start with a square piece of paper.

In the sample above, I added a stamped, metal-rimmed tag and stamped tissue paper.  Stamping tissue paper is so easy and so much fun!  And, it adds to much to your gift to have matching tissue paper.  Too cute! :-)

Please note: I have added black lines to show where your folds should be.  And dotted lines to show where you should cut the paper.

1.  Fold the paper in half.  Crease with bone folder.
2.  Fold each half in half again.  Crease with bone folder.
3.  Turn paper 1/4 turn.  Repeat Steps 1 and 2.
4.  Cut on each fold line as shown in photo.
5.  Stamp paper, if desired. 6.  If you want to add the squares of paper, just use one of the corner squares that you cut out in Step 4 as a template.  Stamp the paper squares as desired.

7.  Take two "partner" squares ( 1 and 2, 3 and 4, etc.) and put one ontop of the other until the two top edges of the squares line up to make a single square.  Glue.  This makes one side of the basket.
8.  Repeat with the remaining squares.  You now have a basket! :-)
9.  Add a strip of paper for the handle, if desired 10.  Adhere stamped squares to sides of basket, if desired.  I like doing this now if I have added a handle.  I put the strip of paper for the handle inbetween the stamped square of paper and the basket side.  It looks nicer that way and the extra glue helps keep the handle on better.  Add a tag, bow, etc. and you can make these really fun or very elegant!
