MY BIRTH FAMILY (and how I found them)
I was adopted as a baby. I also have a Brother Todd (Adopted in Marion Ohio) and a Sister Nicole (Rhode Island) they were adopted also. We knew all our lives we were adopted. It was never a secret we were always told how special we were because we were adopted. In 1983 I decided I wanted my birth history so I called the adoption agency in Rhode Island. I asked for any info he could give me. I received a long history minus the identifying info.
That appeased me for awhile but after moving to the Texoma area and getting the internet in 1996 I needed to know who gave birth to me.
After years of searching and signing up at alot of reunion sites.On Feb 17,2001 at 10:28PM I found an instant message on my screen by a stranger. She said she was from one of the search services I signed up with. I was leery about her being legitimate and giving her anymore info than she already had so she said she could call me. Few seconds later I got a call and she read me all the info and the matching info. IT WAS A MATCH!!!!
She said she had just spoken to my Birth Mother and had permission to connect us up until 1:00AM within minutes I was on a 3-way call talking to Gloria !!! I asked her questions only she would have the answers to and she got them all correct SHE WAS MY BIRTH MOTHER! We broke the 3-way call and she called the house direct.What followed was a lovely conversation with the woman I had fantasized about all of my life.We talked for about 5 hours.
Come to find out all these years she had been searching too. Her friends talked her into getting computer & internet if she wanted to find me. So about 6 months earlier she was on the search to find me.
She told me about my Brothers I have 3 Todd, Ty & Toby (twins). The circumstances of my adoption, her grandchildren, what she looked like, and finally my birth father's name and where he and his family were from.
In April 2001 she flew here so we could meet. My friend Charlene came with me for support. She said watching her run down the ramp to me was a huge moment she will not soon forget !!!!!
MY BIRTH FATHER SEARCH
I then started to look for my Birth Father. In May 2002 I did many of searches and emailed people. I got a hold of a man who said he would pass the email to his mother. She would know what to do. Turns out there are 2 George Rodney's in New Hampshire she gave it to my Birth fathers sister Francis (not the one in pic below) She then emailed me and said she knew nothing about me and if her parents knew they took it to the grave. Yes I had brothers 2 of them but no she was not telling them about me, nor did she tell me their names.
So I was back to square one. I looked up every Rodney in Maine and New Hampshire.
I got brave and called a number that I believed to be my Birth Fathers family and I got lucky with my first call it was his widow Francis.
George past away in 1992. She said she knew about me George had told her he had a Daughter out there somewhere.. All these years he knew about me and knew I was a girl even though he and Gloria quit speaking when she was 3 months pregnant. He must have done some detective work LOL.
I have 2 more Brothers Rick and Mark.
Francis said she didn't care what the aunt said she was telling the boys and she did. A few days later I got a call from Mark. He told me that when they were kids someone made comment about what if you had a sister out there, they both looked at each other confused. So their Mother knew also which is George's first wife. Francis said she really wished I could have met my father he would have loved to met me. She sent pictures and a ring,keychain,and other trinkets that belonged to him she said he would have wanted me to have them. I treasure those things.
