| Who she is: Raquel Casull is Pacifica's older sister (adopted). She, with Shannon, protects Pacifica from those who would kill her because of the prophesy of the Mauser church. Her talents: Raquel is very good at using magic, and, if I recall correctly, has some fighting skills as well (though she tends toward magic for obvious reasons). She apparently can cook, though her use of magic doesn't help much there (thinking of Soupy-kun episode *sweatdrops*). Her personality: She can be scatterbrained, forgetful, and silly, but not when it comes to protecting Pacifica. As the oldest of the Casull siblings, she can also be the most level-headed and responsible, showing none of Shannon's brashness. Relationships: Raquel is older sister to Shannon (biological brother) and Pacifica (adopted sister). My comments: I think that there's a lot more to Raquel than the silly, almost ditzy face she puts to the world. She certainly loses that image when Pacifica is in danger, and I have to wonder how much of the silliness is real and how much is feigned. Raquel's love for her sister is sometimes eclipsed by the brashness Shannon exhibits (because of his own love), but that doesn't make it any less. She doesn't flinch from threatening death, and her magical skills are definitely nothing to scoff at. I think she's one of those characters who can really shine in good fanfiction because so much of what she thinks and feels is hidden or overlooked in the show (not that her character isn't well-developed--if it wasn't, I don't think I would say any of this). When I realized how much was beneath her quiet exterior, she became one of my favorite female characters. |
