The Scouts of Namibia is based on the following Principles:

 

Duty to God

Adherence to spiritual principles, loyalty to the religion that expresses them and acceptance of the duties resulting therefrom.

 

Duty to Country

Loyalty to one's country in harmony with the promotion of local, national and international peace, understanding and co-operation.

 

Duty to Others

Participation in the development of society with recognition of and respect for the dignity of one’s fellow man and the integrity of the natural world.

 

Duty to Self

Responsibility for the development of oneself.

 

PROMISE AND LAW

All members of Scouts of Namibia are required to adhere to the Scout Promise and Scout Law conceived by the Founder of the Scout Movement as follows:

The Cub Promise

“I promise to do my best:

To do my duty to God, and to my Country;

To keep the Law of the Wolf Cub Pack

and to do a good turn to somebody every day.”

 

The Cub Law

Cubs show respect for their elders and for themselves.

Cubs are brave and do not give up.

 

Scout Promise

"On my honour I promise that I will do my best:

To do my duty to God, and my Country;

To help other people at all times;

To obey the Scout Law."

 

The Scout Law

1.    A Scout's honour is to be trusted.

2.    A Scout is loyal.

3.    A Scout's duty is to be useful and to help others.

4.    A Scout is a friend to all and a brother to every other Scout.

5.    A Scout is courteous.

6.    A Scout is a friend of nature.

7.    A Scout is obedient.

8.    A Scout smiles and whistles under all difficulties.

9.    A Scout is thrifty.

10   A Scout is clean in thought, word and deed.

Rover Promise

“On my honour I promise that I will do my best:

to do my duty to God and my country;

to help other people; and

to live by the Rover Law.

Rover Law

1.    A Rover is to be trusted.

2.    A Rover is loyal.

3.    A Rover is friendly and considerate.

4.    A Rover is thrifty.

5.    A Rover serves others.

6.    A Rover is courteous.

7.    A Rover is a friend to the environment

8.    A Rover is respectful and responsible.

9.    A Rover smiles under all difficulties.

10.  A Rover is clean in thought, word and deed.

THE MOTTO

The Cub Motto is: “Do Your Best.”

The Scout Motto is: “Be Prepared.”

The Rover Motto is: “Service.”
