Game - Balloon Basketball - Set up a chair at each wall, four teams. One team member on the chair must try to break the balloons passed to him/her by the other team members. All players in the circle must stay on their butts! Swap chair people with each break. One point per broken balloon.

1. Grow cress on cotton wool - put wool in plastic cups, water, and add seed. Watch over the next week to see what happens. Draw a picture for each change, and when.

2. Composition of air - put a candle in a shallow dish of water. Light the candle and cover with a jar. What happens? Why?

1. Estimate - the gate to the road, width of the hall, height of the flag. Measure to confirm.

2. Volcano - make a volcano out of clay, add food colouring, vinegar, and bi-carb.

1. Locate south - use the Southern Cross. Explain the method, confirm with a compass.

2. Tin can telephone - punch a hole in the bottom of two tin cans, join with string. Why does it work? What if the string is loose? What if you hold the middle of the string?

Game - Atmosphere Game - Make up a bunch of sticky labels with the letters H, O, N, and C on them - one per label. Each Cub gets one label. Cubs in a circle, marching around. Call out a compound. Cubs try to find other Cubs with the correct element to form the compound. First correct group sitting in the middle and holding hands of the circle wins. Talk about what the various compounds are or what they are used for.
