Bonsai
I bought my first Bonsai Tree in Spring 1986. That first Japanese Hornbeam is still
with me today! I also have a Japanese Zelcova, A large Beech, and many seedlings
in the ground.
My Japanese Zelcova, showing it's Autumn colors. The same tree, a few weeks earlier. Thats downtown
October, 1998. Rochester, NY in the background.
FINALLY an update to this page! after 4 years! 'doh!
The Bonsai Collection at the end
of 2001 includes.
The Original Japanese Hornbeam.
now appearing in its 6th season!
The Japanese Zelcova.
A Large Beech (new this year, from
the Bonsai Show)
only one of the seedlings from the
cutting seminar in 2000 made it :(
frost got them in the early spring
at my parents house.
But one Ginko made it!
so now the ginko is living in the
side yard with 5 Japanese Maple seedlings,
all from spring '98. plus one new
Red japanese Maple born this year from
Jeff's lawn.
The 2 Japanese maples from spring
'97 are still doing fine in the front yard.
so that makes 7 young maples and
the Ginko out in the ground.
Plus the 3 trees here in Rochester
in pots.
And spending the winter with the
3 trees on the roof are Deb's 5 Silver
Maple seedlings, new to the world
Spring 2001.
here is the roof garden, where
my trees live.
My Japanese Zelcova! probably my
"best" tree.
My poor abused Japanese Hornbeam.
my favorite tree!
I have nearly killed it twice,
from missing one day of watering.
On two occasions (summer 1999 and
summer 2001) I missed one day,
the leaves turned brown and died,
but the tree survived!
branches also died each time, so
the styling of this tree is a mess!
I promise to be more carefull and
be very diligent about its watering!
It has survived twice, I wont stress
it further! :)
This is my first Bonsai, from Spring
1996.
Debbie's Silver Maple seedlings!
collected from her yard Spring
2001.
this is the portrait of their first
year!
Children of the home of Neighbor
Squirrel.
My new Beech! bought at the Spring
show 2001. In 2002 it will recieve
a
BIG pot! it isnt looking it's best
here,
its early fall and the leaves of
beeches tend
to just turn brown, rather than
a bright color.
