| I've done some pretty stupid things in life. I think one of the stupidest things I did early on was when I was 6. It was Summer. It had been real hot that day and a storm was coming in. I always wondered what it'd be like to be electricuted, so I grabbed an aluminum baseball bat and ran to the lake. It was pouring, and thundering. I was standing there holdign that bat up as high as I could. I probably would've gotten electricuted if my friend Kelsie hadn't grabbed me and yelled"Are you freaking mental!?" Kelsie's actually been my best friend since I moved to Redding, and probably will be forever. The Summer when I was 7 her and I were exploring around and decided to go into my daddy's wine cellar. Since then we've both been hooked on booze. I even went through rehab once when I was 8. Didn't work. I think I'm an alcoholic for life. I came back to Redding at Christmastime in 2005, and I've been here since then. A few weeks ago Kelsie and I did some more "preteen rebellion activities." It's always such a rush. I lvoe doing things that give me a rush. It was 1am and I snuck out of my house and met Kelsie. I had my daddy's booze and she had her momma's makeup. We put false eyelashes on each other. And painted on black eyeliner and she put blue eyeshadow on me and I put purple on her. Then we put on pink blush and red lipstick. We combed wash-out hair dye streaks into each other's hair - I had blue and she had purple. Then we finished off our looks with fake tatoos drawn on our lower backs. We both had on knee-high boots and mini skirts and spaghetti strap tank tops. We looked like a couple of child hookers. We quietly ran to the old barn in the next town over with our booze. They let us in after saying the password and then for a few hours we drank and danced and made out with random boys we hardly knew - some as old as 16. We didn't get caught. We were back home and in bed by sunrise. Unfortunately for me I woke up with my sister Rosalie standing beside my bed. She looked pissed. "You're having a hangover aren't you?!" She screamed at me. Or maybe she wasn't screaming, but it sure sounded liek it. Either way she wa pissed. I wanted to deny it but when you wake up nauseas with bloodshot eyes and a pounding headache you can't deny it. She forced me out of bed and into the shower. She told me I'd better wash off my makeup and hair streaks or else everyone at church will know I've sinned. As I got into the shower I just remembered it was Sunday and how church was the last place I wanted to be. In the shower I washed my face and hair and threw up. Afterwards my sister Rosie gave me some water and dried my hair for me. Then she helped me fix my eyes so they wouldn't look as bloodshot. I ended up going to church that morning. My parents didn't suspect a thing. My mom said I looked a little tired but I just said I didn't feel very well. She just said "Well I guess it is cold season" but Rosie just rolled her eyes. I didn't see Kelsie in church that morning. she's a better liar than me, she told her momma she'd caught a bug and her momma let her stay home in bed and skip church. My momma would've too but Rosie wouldn't. Rosie, I love her so much but she can be so dull. She wouldn't ever drink. And she'd never sneak out on a Saturday night. On Saturday nights she watches a movie with our parents, goes to bed early, and is up by sunrise showered and primped. Ready for church. She even cooked breakfast that morning. She's a good cook but I didn't want any that morning. She brought up some eggs and toast for me. Because she knew just looking at them would make me nauseas. When I told her to stop she said "Wellyou shouldn't have been out drinking last night!" I would've argued back but she had a point. It was my fault. I take full responsibility for it. But feeling like hell for a day is worht a night of partying. Especially when you live in a small town with nothin to do. |
