| This documentary does a good job telling the story of the first unionization of strippers at a San Francisco club. Query narrates the story which is very well edited, and has a lot of laughs. She describes how her lesbian stand-up comic income was insufficient to pay for her graduate school studies, so she turned to stripping. (which is fairly common, which in turn means colleges are pimps) The operations of the club are described as the specific problems and grievances are identified with potential solutions. Query becomes a labor advocate as a result of the efforts to unionize, and the success begins a wave of unionization efforts across the United States in the sex industry. The complications along the way are fairly well laid out, and the one sided film does not go too heavy handed against the owner's side. The combination of camaraderie and personal distance emphasizes that the job is a job like any other where the workers are having problems with the employer. Query's fear of telling her mother the truth about her involvement with the laborers is a constant source of apprehension for her. This is a well told unusual story. | ||||||||||
