| In the pilot, and for some early shots,a 1969 Dodge 1-ton with a utility bed was used.It was used mainly at Station 10 , where the pilot begins. |
| Once Johnny Gage teams up with Roy Desoto at a newly constructed Station 51 , A 1972 Dodge D300 1-ton is introduced as "SQUAD 51".The new Squad, like its earlier version, also has a custom utility box on the back. |
| These Rescue Squads were designed as EMS-PARAMEDIC-RESCUE units. They carried everything from SCBA packs(self contained breathing apparatus) to Drug boxes. |
| The only Draw backs were , these didn't pump or even carry any water. Alot of Departments today order units that are multi purpose.Some can even Pump like a full size Engine, and carry enough water for a quick knock-down( such as a kitchen fire). |
