The Birds of Cussen Park

 Last Updated 25th September 2001

The following list shows the 66 bird species that have been recorded in Cussen Park. The majority of birds on the list were from limited observations up to 25th August 1999.

Because the information has been gathered over limited periods of observation and the fact that many species of birds have seasonal migratory patters, the list can not be considered as exhaustive.

It is likely that many more species of birds make Cussen Park home for at least some time of the year especially in recent years as the Park develops. One of the challenges for the Tatura Community is to take stock of the species using Cussen Park so that an appropriate management can be adopted to meet the needs of desired species, especially those that are rare, endangered or regionally depleted.

The Cussen Park Committee of Management would appreciate your help in identifying species in the Park. A data sheet is available here. Any help you can provide in identifying species and their habits will be of help to the Committee. Please complete this sheet and send to the Committee at the address provided, well include your name and with the siting. CLICK HERE

Many species travel considerable distances before resting in Cussen Park. Species from as far away as Japan have been observed in the Park.
