| BEACH PATH IN BELIZE 18" x 24" acrylic on canvas From a post card given to me by some exchange students from Belize. One of the biggest successes with this painting is something that most people don't notice. It is the sand. I wanted to try something that would put variation into the sand without making it look rough. So I mixed a cream color and a light blue color and just "sprayed" them on by flicking a large brush. Then I used a smaller brush to spray in the darker specles. I like the way it turned out. There is also a contrast in this painting that most people don't pick up on right away. It is the contrast in the upkeep of the fences. The one on the left is dilapidated and crooked while the one on the right is neatly taken care of. Also, I really like the boat. It was a simple figure but added a lot of life to the painting. |
