| On another topic, I just bought a Volvo 760 Turbo from a friend at work for $300. It needs brake work, some wiring harness repair because the headlight circuit shorted and melted some wires, and it's not running very well. It won't hold boost unless you have the throttle like 3/4 of the way down, and it seems like the ECU is messing around with stuff as it won't idle smoothly and will die occasionally when it's cold. It was parked for a couple years and something moved into or under the air box, so my guess is: either the MAF is bad, it has a pretty bad vacuum leak, or the fuel system is clogged/messed up from the old gas that was in it. I haven't really gotten into it yet as I'm still waiting for the bently manual, so I'm just guessing. |
| I'm still not sure what I'm going to do for the engine in my 86', but I bought a full G60 swap with 60K on it for $1100 a couple weeks ago complete with everything locally from Corradokng off the tex. I also have a 1.8 & 2.0 16v sitting around, so I'm not sure if I want to build a 2.0 16v G60, or just stay 8v. Same goes for 020 vs. 02A. I've driven a couple VR's and I didn't like the cable shifter feel compared to my GLI, but they're stronger. Although, if I stay 020 it saves me the trouble of having to swap my peddle cluster to convert to the 02A hydraulic clutch, but I also got an ABS set up with the swap which would be nice to have. |
