Fourth Quarter 2008 and beyond

Good day and thanks for dropping by my blog.

As many of you know by now my employer Sara Lee has held a handful of townhall meetings to announce that the majority of the workers at my location (including my position) will be outsourced to either HP (Hewlett Packard) or IBM (International Business Machines) to be sent to Costa Rica or another location outside of the United States. The timeline for the outsourcing is not 100 set in stone yet but the first round of cuts is expected to begin around July 1, 2009. Internally everyone is operating business as usual but with one eye on the calendar. Given my tough luck with former employers and tenure I was hoping to be able to spend a large chunk of time at Sara Lee but with the economy and the competition in our industry it was not meant to be. So turning the page, I have decided to remain with Sara Lee until the layoff period and severance can begin unless I find an appropriate opportunity with at least moderate long term potential.

I look forward to meeting many new people in the remainder of this year and into the next. Happy holidays and hopefully I'll see you soon.
