Floorboards
The rear floorboards in the RV-8 are normally installed permanently with pop rivets.  Several builders have modified them to allow removal by replacing the pop rivets with screws.  Since there is room underneath the floorboards that would provide a convenient place for items including trim servos, autopilot servos, etc, I elected to make the floorboards removable.  This turned out to be a major undertaking.  One person I talked to had done it before and recommended I make copies of the original floorboards, but with half as many holes for the screws.  After installing twice as many nutplates as was really necessary, I wish I had taken that advice.
The aft cockpit without any floorboards.  With the exception of the control tube in the center and rudder cables down each side, the space is empty.
The original left floorboard.  I cut off the center part to make the floorboard only run down the one side...
