The SA-23G Avenger Gunship is the newest fighter addition to the United Psionic Alliance.  She has nearly twice the firepower of the Thunderbolt, and more powerful shields.  In sacrifice of maneuverability comes the ability to fire forward and behind, as well as the gatling underneath the pilot, which is directly linked to his helmet.  Wherever he looks, the gun is locked.  The Avenger is not jump capable, but can also survive well in HyperSpace.  Her weapons are very powerful, with the six pulse cannons having a rapid fire rate fore and aft, and the plasma bolt cannons providing a heavier shot forward.  The Avenger squadrons are very capable of engaging support and maybe even capital sized starships given reasonable numbers, no shields can withstand the combined punishment from a squadron or two of these gunships for very long.
