* Ok. Ok. Here's....here's my speech. This is the big speech from Noel. Uh, you musn't leave this school. Why? Here's why. Because this is -- this is a life struggle. This is fate. This is a challenge. I-If you turn away from this now -- you will and I promise you this -- be confronted by the same issue 5 years from now, or 10. All right. You'll, you'll be the fancy doctor with...with the fancy practice. You'll, you'll be married and you'll have like four phone lines in your home, and then, boom, it'll --it'll grip you like --like a blast of freezing cold air. You know -- what is my life? And you'll be able to trace it back to this instant. This -- this *very* moment, when that geek R.A. gave you these four words of advice -- Stay in New York or perish.

Elena: The big fat secrets out. Elena's not who you thought I was.
Noel: Well, I--I don't know who you thought I thought you were, but--but this is who I am, ok. Um...I--I got a scholarship from my high school too, and mine came through, but it was only for a thousand dollars, a drop in the bucket. So, I applied for 28 separate grants. I got 3 of them. Another five thousand. I took out a loan that will haunt me till I'm thirty. I wrote letters to more companies then I can remember begging to be sponsered. My parents could barely send me to New York, forget the university. You thought I was some rich kid, right?
Elena: Didn't you think I was?
Noel: I didn't care. I just knew that I'll never be judged by how I get through college, but I might be judged if I never go at all.
Elena: Noel, you're giving me a speech.
Noel: It's a speech moment, you know. Look, I went through embarrassing lengths to pay a lot of money to be here right now talking to you. So, here's my point. No one cares....No one cares how I pay for school. No one cares how you do it either. You know those lods who didn't get in here, they'd kill you because of you're attitude, and I might tell them about you. Good. Ok. I'm not going to pretend that I've been through the same things as you, but if there were a scholarship for white, Irish Catholic kids with preppy clothes and webpages, I'd grab it. No humility. No shame.

Hannah: ....Did you eat Beets?
Noel: No.
- later in the conversation -
Felicity: So, uh, I can get my plant back, right?
Noel: Right, your plant. (to Hannah) See, okay, Felicity gave me a plant that she had to watch and change the water, which I was happy to do because I'm the resident advisor. (To Felicity) Um, so, um, you'll get that back today.
Hannah: You sure you didn't have beets?

Felicity: (To Ben) And whenever you need help with anything...Noel is one of the most level-headed guys I know.
- Noel can't stand it anymore and rushes into the SILENT READING ROOM. -
Noel: THIS IS UNNACCEPTABLE!!!
- Everyone looks up at Noel including Ben and Felicity. -

Noel: ....also to apologize about that insane outburst earlier..
Felicity: I-I heard about the Smart Powder.
Noel: Yeah. Don't ever eat anything Meghan gives to you...forever. It might kill you.

Noel: .......Anyway, we were walking to the subway. And I had this...vision of my life after college. When I wouldn't have this amazing oppurtunity. To live right down the hall from someone like you...not someone like you, You. ......Um..all I'm saying is that if we--we can't, uh, figure out a way through this, then I underestimated what we are. I love you. I have since I met you. And I'm just sorry it took all this for me to say it.

Noel's Letter to Felicity

Dear Felicity, Although it's true it seems impossible, 9 months ago, I didn't even know you. Now I can say with absolute certainty that there's no one else on the planet who means more to me than you. Whatever happens between you and Ben, and whatever happens with you and anyone, it could never change the way I feel. So with that, i conclude this sappy, yet sincere letter and ask you to seriously consider using the enclosed.
