Writing #2 Focus on one or a few items you possess. How do these reveal something about you?
Autobiographical 2 page typed rough draft due with prewriting for in-class peer review/workshop. Note: If you are not in class on these peer review days, you will be unable to earn the points for the peer review/workshop.
Week 4
Tour of building for Art Collection and Gallery.
Writing #3 How does the art in the College’s collection compare to your own ideas about what art should be? Use specific pieces in the collection for your discussion. Are some of the pieces more “artistic” than others? Why or why not?
Autobiographical Essay due.

Reading: “The Mona Lisa” 103-124
Writing #4 Choose a portrait in the Housatonic Collection. What does this portrait reveal about the person presented? About the artist? Be certain to include details about this portrait to support your points. Include the title and artist in your essay.

Reading “Indian Ground” 318-329
Writing #5 We as people have the ability to change how we write about history but cannot go back in time to change history itself. Choose any historical event. Explain how you feel about it and why you chose it. Does the world continue to be affected by it today? Why or why not?

Writing #6 Tell about an experience when you or someone else’s true identity conflicted with what others expected. How did the people involved feel? What was the outcome? Quote at least 3 times from “What Did You Expect?” 71-78 for support. Use citations.
