- Henry Scott [Skott, Scote] - my ancestory as father of Thomas Scott of Rattlseden-Ipswich-Ma & Hartford Ct ... has several still unfirmly decided fathers & mothers --the mix, now, of his ancestral parentage is here --generally averred to the Scott family of John de Baillol's progenitation at Scotts Hall Bradbourne Kent England
- ancestry of Catherine Howard -- one alleged mother with William Scott of Henry Scott of Rattlesden Suffolk England -- this traces back to the Howard family (including de Bosco) who at times were Earls of Nottingham connected with Hertfordshire (not a branch as known of the later Catholic continuing Howards; nor the post restoration late 17th century renewed Earls of Nottingham
n.b: Scotts of Scott Hall include the three or four generations of High Sheriffs of Kent from WIlliam Scott to John Scott to Thomas Scott in the reign of Queen Elizabeth I; which men at the same time, at least WIlliam Scott were Admiral-Warden of the Cinq Ports --
- Thomas Scott commanded the British fleet against the Spanish Armada at that attempted invasion. (Thos Scott & Eleanor Baker had 15 or so children 6-8 sons including the group: Reginald, John, George, Richard, Robert, Thomas) -- these ancestors at Scott Hall are the fundamental ancestry of the New England Scotts referenced as Bradbourne Kent Scotts of Scott Hall: Thomas, William, Richard & Benjamin & Edward Scott in Puritan New England.
- another genealogy of Thomas Scott of Hartford via Edmund of Bradfield Suffolk England back to Andrewcott in the 15th century [nb. -this genealogy has two of the George Scotts without wives named; an earlier one attests a 'Joan' daughter of the Earl of Nottingham [Howard family] circa 1470 - -these in either case return to Lancastrian and Kent 'Scot' families akin to Baillol, John of Gaunt, and the Kent sheriffs. Add'l research is being done on the Thos Scott of Hartford reburial in the Norman Churchyard at Bradboure Kent in the 1680's-90's. [nb there are two pertinent Bradfields & Bra'bournes ... the others near Sheffield And Nottingham adjoining old Lancastrian lands in Hertfordshire; and part of the Earls of Nottingham lands which at times joined the Earldom of Hertfordshire]
- ... add'l research note ... in the early years of King James , a 'William Blake' was granted lands at Rattlesden in Suffolk. At this time, the King favored an episcopacy (ie Archbishop Laud) which rpompted the Puritan Great Migration about 1630-1638; and the Howard family had been be-smirched by a courting of Mary Queen of Scotland - Queen Elizbeth's rival - by Thomas Howard of that family. Also some courters connected with Gorges and others friendly to Puritan migration; had been suspected (royally purged) by reason of connections to the Earl of Essex. Also, the Earl of Nottingham, a Howard, in 1470 joins the approaching reigns of Yorkist contention to the House of Lancaster -- with the Duke of York (Richard III).
- Note bene -- the contention of mystery as to de Bailol commencement of the Kent Scot family (to Scott's Hall et al) is lessened, when history is read and the Willam de Baillol le Scot buried at Canterbury is joined to Alexander de Baillol, his brother, and both sons of John de Baillol King John of Scotland; Alexander had sought recognition by King Edward I of Enngland as King Alexander III of Scotland and is so styled; then, c.f. the ancestry from Hugh de Baillol to William Scott etc.

- John Scott 'the rogue' in 1664 Ct Colony Records --the John Scott (no relation) who claimed Long Island territory, and who tried to 'extort' a pedigree from Lady Ann Scott of Scott's Hall in Kent England; the man is charged with serious crimes of mis-representing Royal authority, etc in 1664 -- at a time os Connecticut's split colony of New Haven & Hartford's -rejoining; New Haven with Polly Hiutchinson had claimed Long Island's extensive & 'near' eastern shore territory. The Ashfor referenced, is in Long Island; Conecicut's Ashford of my family, did not begin until about 1712; in Uncas' old lands - sold to the Church & others by his oldest son Owanec.
- same Ct Colony Pub Recrods source for history of Thomas Scott, first settled Ipswich [Agawam] Massachusetts by Rowley & Plum Island; then moving with Winthrop people et al to co-found Hartford community. Listed as an official in charge of grain 'indian corn' distribution to the colonists& the plantation's settling; then to his reported death - by the gunshot -accidental, but reckless, of Mr. Ewe; and his will's and inventory - chiefly for his daughters. I descend from him; descent alleged via his son John Scott to Henry Scott of Ashford, Ct.; to his son Thomas Scott of Ashford Ct & Sarah Hale of Ashford, Ct [see Rev John Hale at Ashford] who moved to Halifax Vermont by 1778-80.
- Henry & Mary Scott family .. who settled short-time at Mansfield, after marriage at Canterbury, then Norwich, the Mansfield into Tolland with my ancestor -son Thomas - settling longer at Ashford, Ct where he had married Sarah Hale, youngest granddaughter of Ashford, Ct fchurch founding Deacon James Hale [of the Deacon's line from Robert of Charleston through Daecon John Hale & Sarah Hale [Noyes] of Beverley, Masss [cf. his witchcraft treatise & the Hale Family Fram in Beverly, Ma. & the well successful brothers and nephews: Samuel & Richard Hale in land dealings; Millicent & Allis Scott in this list were personally married by Rev James Hale, who knew the family, to two Squire [& Fuller} brothers of Ashford, Ct.; who settled in Monson, Ma]. All were active and loyal Americans in the revolutions. Another 'transient John Scott' was arrested in '75 for horse-stealing and sent to Newgate Prison. Thomas Scott's older brother settled with his father and otehr brotehers in North Mansfield, later Willington & Staffrod Springs area. John Scott, the odlest son of Henry & Mrs. Mary Scott is presumed edly named for his grand-father 'John Scott'; other name clues in his family are 'Joseph', & 'Samuel'; albeit the John Scott of Henry Scott's parentage in believed John Scott of Farmington, Ct. - the younger son of the earlied founder Thos. Scott of Hartford.
- descent from Thomas Wiswall via Ichabod Wiswall's younger brother Noah Wiswall; who married Theodoro Jackson -daughter of Deacon Jackson in Massachusetts Bay & Plymouth Colonies
Their daughter, Esther Wiswall, married Benjamin Viall; whose daughter 'Esther Vial' married the Tiffany family. Tiffanies then married Bicknell's; who married the Hales in Connecticut.
- Josslyne family to mine
From Gilbert Jossylne de Brabant Brettagne, about 1040 AD at te Conquest ... we descend from "Ralph Josslyn" at the 20th generation to Thomas Josslyn [Joslin] and Rebecca Marlowe who immigrated to the English North American colonies; their daughter Mary Josslyn [Joslin] married Roger Sumner of New Lancaster Mass Bay Colony [later Milton, Mass.]; and their daughter Rebecca Sumner married Aaron Hobart of Hingham in MassBay Colony. Hobart's married Jones' of ABington; and after they moved to North Yarmouth Maine, the daughter Sarah Jones [dtr Dr. David Jones Jr.] of North Yarmouth Maine married Henry Scott of Halifax Vermont. A great grand-daughter via their only living son Henry M Scott of North Yarmouth Maine [to Portland Maine] married my paternal grandfather Joseph A. Connolly of Portland Maine [Sarah Elizabeth Scott & Joseph Augustine Connolly md. 1906 in Portland, Maine]. Their descendant's became Roman Catholic again [after the English Reformation & the Puritan-Congregational Church] whene Charles Henry Scott [Sarah's father] married a first generation-USA-Maine born Welsh-English-Irish Catholic named Mary Anne Durgin.
If desired, one can copy another accurate published genealogy of this Josslyne family in the New England Historical Genealogy Society Journal NEHGS; cross reference it in its index; it will list that genealogy from the Norman founding generation to the time period of Thomsas Josslyn's immigration. Josslyne is a Norman-Bretonnaise family of Goth & Visigoth ancestry. Concurrent Wallonian Josslyne family will trace from another Wallonian (Belgian Lowlands family at a second Chateaux Brabant) to Charlemagne & Martell & Clovis at the end of the Roman Empire. Josslyne is a variant of the word for "goth"; and includes variants in Europe such as Jocelot.
